Today’s diary page… not that I don’t have anything interesting to say. Just busy on a killer deadline… doodled this while I was on the phone.

...oh and I had a couple of beers. That deadline is looking more and more impossible.

Been listening to the Mirrorball album lately. The riff from 'Downtown' is -I think- pretty much a straight redo of the one he played on Warren Zevon's song ‘Sentimental Hygiene’. But it’s a killer anyway, so why not recycle?

Holiday!

This was supposed to be a Elle McPherson caricature, but I lost interest in the likeness, still like it as a drawing though. So I thought I’d pop it on here as the last post for the next week or so. I’ll be off up the coast soaking up sun and beer.

Tough Guy!

I've been meaning to do a Bronson for a while now, mainly because he is in what I think is the best Western ever made: 'Once Upon a Time in the West’. What a movie. The opening sequence alone is worth seeing it for. Faultless direction.

A Space Oddity

Two versions of my Kubrick caricature... like the man himself I couldn't make up my mind.

Watched 'Eye's Wide Shut' again recently. And this time round thought it was pretty damn good. Though not a great as 'Paths of Glory', '2001', 'Barry Lyndon' and 'Dr. Strangelove' ... actually , nevermind... all his movies are great.

Don't like 'Clockwork Orange' though.

Two images from a series of character designs for a movie, or rather would-be movie. This project is going through the pitch cycle at the moment. A Big-shot Hollywood Producer really liked it, I won't mention names...yet. Here's hoping.

I recently watched a few John Wayne westerns. Pretty dated but still fun, and I like westerns anyway. When I was a kid I used to borrow a book from the town library that had a great caricature of The Duke on the back cover. I can’t remember who did it but I have an idea that it was a Mullatier, it was brilliant. My little homage…

A little homage to Paul Newman. Pity Robert Redford, George Roy Hill and Newman didn't get to make a third film together. A 'trilogy' would have been nice.

Mission Impossible

Charlize Theron... or is it? It's just about impossible to do a caricature of her in my opinion. There is nothing to exaggerate, her features are all so perfectly proportional they have to be drawn to be believed.

Quite Taken

I went to see Taken and was 'quite taken' with the movie. It's a pretty cool action flick. And seeing Liam Neeson up on screen made me want to do a caricature of the guy. Very unique face, the man has.
